Audio Mixer: David Earl. Recording information: Severn Studios, Severn, MD. Arranger: Willie Henderson Jr. Though Charles Wilson has been a regular on the Chicago soul scene since the mid '60s, waxing a series of obscure but outstanding singles and opening for legends like Tyrone Davis and Bobby Bland, he didn't succeed in gaining the attention of a wider audience until the early '90s. In 2004 he released IF HEARTACHES WERE NICKELS, a hard driving collection of deep soul, on the venerable Delmark label. TROUBLED CHILD is in much the same vein, and boasts loping, organ-drenched grooves that could easily have been recorded at Hi studios in the early '70s. minimize
