A mouthful of a name, Success Will Write Apocalypse Across the Sky is among the new crop of extreme metal bands signed to Nuclear Blast. On the surface, their debut full-length, THE GRAND PARTITION AND THE ABROGATION OF IDOLATRY, is yet another in a string of young bands embracing the frenzied deathcore metal style seemingly sweeping the nation. Listening closely, however, will reveal several nuances that separate Success from the rest of herd. For one, their use of eerily ambient samples between and within tracks gives the album a bit of a conceptual theme. Adding to that is Success' penchant for old-school death metal breakdowns, which are enhanced by the production of metal legend James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary). minimize
