While UNDER SATANAE collects the tracks from the black metal band Moonspell's indie release and demos from the early-1990s, it's more than a re-release. For this 2007 collection, the Portuguese band has rerecorded their 1994 demo UNDER THE MOONLIGHT and other tracks from the five-piece's earliest days. What ensues is polished and lushly melodic, yet vicious and unadulterated. Fernando Ribiero's lilting-gruff vocals rip into poems that recount the ongoing battle between the light and the dark in a sensual tone which lies somewhere between John Donne and a hymnal. minimize
