Swedish death metal outfit Anata move further and further into the realm of tech metal with 2006's CONDUCTOR'S DEPARTURE. The fiercely aggressive m.o. of the band has not lessened an iota, but all 10 of the album's tracks display a keen attention to the dense, near mathematical complexities of the music. Tunes like "Downward Spiral into Madness" and "I Would Dream of Blood" prove Anata hasn't lost touch with their death-metal roots, but the superior musicianship of CONDUCTOR'S DEPARTURE will appeal to mathcore listeners, as well as the group's original fanbase. minimize
