Each decade seems to see several metal subgenres grab the attention of headbangers worldwide, and in the early 21st century there was certainly an overabundance of hard-hitting bands that featured a hardcore barker on vocals: case in point, Remembering Never and their third full-length overall, 2006's God Save Us. Manic riffing, precision drumming, and Sucrets-worthy screaming are offered by the truckload here, especially on such selections as "Con Artist" and "Little Hitlers." The bandmembers also obviously take the lyrical messages in their songs very seriously -- in the CD booklet, after each track's lyrics there is a description of the track's meaning. And as with their previous releases, Remembering Never certainly have a knack for coming up with crafty song titles, tops here including "Runner Up in a Shit-Eating Contest" and "Gangsta Rap & Peppermint Schnapps." You can't deny the band's intensity and venom featured on God Save Us. But you also can't deny that there are numerous other bands that sound exactly like this. ~ Greg Prato minimize
