All American Country (CD - 2003)

The ten-track All American Country collection covers Waylon Jennings and his wife Jessi Colter's most commercially productive duets recorded in the early '70s, including "Under Your Spell Again," "Storms Never Last," and their chart-topping version of "Suspicious Minds," as well as a few lesser-known singles. While this is an affordable disc, too many hits are omitted. An Outlaw...a Lady: The Very Best of Jessi Colter on Capitol and Jennings' Greatest Hits on RCA are the better deals. ~ Al Campbell

Not to be confused with Waylon Jennings's 1972 album of the same name, BMG Special Products' Ladies Love Outlaws is a collection of hits and highlights from Jennings' prolific time at RCA Records. Several big hits -- including "Theme from the Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys)," "Amanda," "A Good Hearted Woman," "We Had It All," "I Ain't Living Long Like This" -- are here, along with great albums cuts like "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died." It may just be a sampler, not a comprehensive collection, but considering that there isn't a weak track on the budget-priced disc, it's a terrific bargain. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine minimize
