One of seemingly dozens of similarly compiled Dolly Parton collections, PLATINUM AND GOLD COLLECTION includes 12 of the singer-songwriter's biggest hits. As on many of these collections, the focus is primarily on Parton's pop years, as heralded by her 1977 soft-pop breakthrough single "Here You Come Again." That song, "9 To 5," "Single Women" (a song that originally began as part of a Saturday Night Live sketch, but was released as a single due to its popularity), "Two Doors Down," and "Potential New Boyfriend" are all present and accounted for, as are tracks from Parton's earlier, pure country period ("Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors," "My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy"). Oddly, no version of "I Will Always Love You," neither the 1974 original nor the 1982 remake, is included, but otherwise, the basics are here. minimize
