Her elegance in songwriting and vocal delivery is reminiscent of a mishmash of A-list influences. At times her vocal range is reminiscent of Carole King a la "Come To Me," while other times the songs reverberate with the vibes of Michelle Branch, Jewel, and Jennifer Knapp, as on "Not The Only One." Practically every song on the disc is rich with acoustic guitars. On the cut "One of These Days," acoustics, shakers, and the elegance of harmonics and slide from an electric guitar create a cut with an earthy, graceful flavor. "There To Here" is a musical interlude that is well placed on the disc. The cut features the acoustic guitar of Jill Paquette and lifts the audible senses. There are so many tunes on this release that are completely rich in musical texture. Tunes like "Broken" and "Sometime Yes, Sometimes No" utilize the down-to-earth feel of pianos, shakers, acoustics, and tambourines, to create the feel of an intimate coffee house. What Jill Paquette has created with her debut opus is a disc where she wears her emotions on her sleeve. Musically and vocally the offering is seasoned with a mix of the right ingredients to help this debut resound from one cut to the next. ~ Steven Douglas Losey minimize
