The second artist signed to Fervent Records, Big Daddy Weave released their debut project, One and Only, in July 2002. Composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Mike Weaver, bass player Jay Weaver, electric guitarist Jeremy Redmon, saxophonist and keyboard player Joseph Shirk, and percussionist Jeff Jones, Big Daddy Weave offers listeners an acoustic pop sound. Produced by FFH frontman Jeromy Deibler, One and Only has resulted in the group being compared to the likes of the Dave Matthews Band and Steven Curtis Chapman. With the songs on One and Only and with each performance, Big Daddy Weave hopes to see the focus and attention be on the message of the music and less on the image of the band. In fact, Jay Weaver told Fervent Records, "My prayer every night is that you would get me and everyone else out of the way and bring Jesus to the front, because that's the image we need to portray. That's what I want people to know -- when they saw Big Daddy Weave, they saw Jesus." This desire is clearly illustrated in each track, most specifically "Audience of One." Additional tracks include "In Christ," "Sacrifice," and "Rest." ~ Ashleigh Kittle minimize
