This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print Flatt & Scruggs LPs: Town and Country and Changin' Times. Originally issued in 1965 and 1967, these 23 tracks are quite different in tone; however, funneling the songs through their arrangements, Flatt & Scruggs managed to combine traditional bluegrass with modern folk and make the songs their own. Town and Country is a loose concept album, a thematic musical journey featuring "Houston," "Memphis," and "Detroit City," while Changin' Times mixes popular songs of the late '60s written by Bobbie Gentry and Bob Dylan with the traditional "This Land Is Your Land" and "Foggy Mountain Breakdown." ~ Al Campbell minimize
