Additional personnel inlcudes: Don Potter (acoustic & electric guitars); Sonny Garrish (steel guitar, dobro); Bonnie Raitt (slide guitar); John Jarvis (piano); Jack Williams (electric bass); Eddie Bayers (drums); Farrell Morris (percussion); Christ Church Choir (background vocals). Recorded at Creative Studios, Nashville, Tennessee and Sunset Sound, Hollywood, California. The Judds were one of mainstream country's biggest attractions in the 1980s and '90s, and LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE, the duo's final album, contains plenty of the slick, accessible sounds, strong songwriting, and grab-bag of styles that made their other records such hits. The Judds were country, sure, but they also brought some blues, rock, R&B, and soft pop to the mix for a sound that distinguished them from the crowd. "Rompin' Stompin' Blues," for example, is a rollicking number that features Bonnie Raitt on slide guitar, while the title track is a delicate acoustic ballad that demonstrates the Judds' lovely vocal interplay. "This Country's Rockin'" channels a bit of old school rockabilly, while "Calling In The Wind" is pure adult contemporary. Even while incorporating various influences, LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE is still cohesive and holds the hit-making duo's reputation in good stead. minimize
