Invaders Must Die [PA] (CD - 2009)

As on its predecessor ALWAYS OUTNUMBERED, NEVER OUTGUNNED (2004), INVADERS MUST DIE (2009) finds the Prodigy revisiting the fiery, rave-culture energy of their mid 1990s heyday. In fact, INVADERS MUST DIE features the return of frontmen Keith Flint and Maxim (both of whom were gone from ALWAYS OUTNUMBERED), so the disc has all the fixings of a classic Prodigy outing. INVADERS delivers what long-time fans expect: hyped-up, breakneck dance music full of in-your-face beats, churning basslines, and Liam Howlett's dazzling, seismic production. The group may be reworking old formulas, but that doesn't diminish the ferocious intensity of cuts like "Omen" and "Warrior's Dance," which should have even the aging old-school ravers thrashing around with their glo-sticks. minimize
