Hollywood Undead specializes in an L.A.-flavored high-tech rap metal. If this was 2001 or so, they'd just be another face in the crowd, but the relative dearth of this once-popular fusion genre now makes their funked-up headbanging sound quite original. "Black Dahlia" pushes chugga-chugga guitars to the background as atmospheric synths take center stage as a sung chorus competes with the thuggish raps, and "This Love, This Hate" could almost be a gritty Duran Duran with its glossy new wave backing. minimize
