Audio Mixer: Calvin Johnson. Recording information: Dub Narcotic Studio, Olympia, WA (04/2007). Photographer: Larissa James. Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Jeremy Jay makes his full-length debut with the charming A PLACE WHERE WE COULD GO, a minimalist set of songs built on Jay's droll sing-speak vocal style, his own acoustic guitar and piano, and a drummer. Produced by K Records owner Calvin Johnson with a deliberately stark, live sound bathed in echo, these songs strongly recall both Jay's contemporaries Destroyer and that band's primary influence, David Bowie's pre-ZIGGY STARDUST career as a quirky folk-influenced singer-songwriter. Highlights include the bouncy "Oh Bright Young Things" and the doo-wop influenced "The Living Dolls." minimize
