A monumental sonic document, the six-disc FOR YOU box set navigates a transitional period for Rick Nelson, the time between leaving behind pop-idol (and huge hitmaker) status and launching into full-fledged country rock with his Stone Canyon Band. You can hear Nelson's vision evolving over the course of this luxuriously appointed set. His earliest Decca recordings err on the side of pop commerciality, but in due course he's digging into the country sounds that had already been presaged by his pre-Decca rockabilly leanings.
