FALL AND WINTER, packaged as the rare double-EP, acts as a sort of travelogue of San Diego singer/songwriter Jon Foreman's loneliness on a long cross-country tour as 2007 gave way to 2008. Each disc contains six tracks reflecting a season in the musician's life. Foreman's songs are somber odes to love, longing, and salvation, delivered in a confused state, as would befit a lonely rider on the trail. Meanwhile, his smooth, knowing tenor (which possesses just the hint of a tremble), imbues languidly philosophical tracks like "Equally Skilled" and "Learning How to Die" with a welcome dose of sincerity. minimize
