Director: Juraj Durovic. Photographer: David Dobson. With DRIVEN, the Crabb Family continues to mine the positive, Christian-minded light pop that elevated them to gospel superstar status in the late 1990s. A true family endeavor, the Crabb family consists of father and main songwriter Gerald, his wife Kathy (keyboardist and road manager), and six of their children, including star vocalists Kelly and Jason. The Crabb's music falls somewhere between contemporary country, traditional gospel, and mainstream commercial pop, with an emphasis on heartfelt vocal performances, hooky, memorable choruses, and inspirational, uplifting lyrics. DRIVEN will not disappoint fans of the Crabbs formula. Traditional themes and metaphors abound ("The Shepherd's Call;" "A Soldier on His Knees"), as do personal testimonies of spiritual experience ("You Can't Imagine"). The willingness to move between biblical and personal narratives is also reflected in the album's stylistic range, which encompasses power ballads ("Forever"), sanctified church song ("He Came Looking for Me"), and even roots rock ("Chapter 2"). But there is a sense of wholesome unity in the Crabb Family's overarching purpose, one that reaches like an outstretched hand to include the listener. minimize
