Fans of the Cartoon Network's brilliantly absurd Space Ghost Coast to Coast and its sister series Cartoon Planet will worship at the altar of Space Ghost's Musical Bar-B-Que, a collection of 25 oddball musical performances fleshed out by bits of dialogue and the occasional "nugget of joy" from the show's sidekick, the evil mantis Zorak. Opening with the should-have-been grunge classic "Smells Like Cartoon Planet," the set is a smorgasbord of musical pranks, mocking folk ("Put Your Sox on Mama"), lounge schmaltz ("Everybody Wants to Be Space Ghost"), hip-hop ("Don't Touch Me") and Elvis ("I Love Everybody"); like the best cartoon music -- Carl Stalling, for example, or Alf Clausen's work on The Simpsons -- the songs work even when removed from their animated images, and are sufficiently twisted to appeal to adults as well as children. ~ Jason Ankeny minimize
