Country's most amicable music maker made a comeback with Solid Ground, his first release for Atlantic, a label not known for its country artists. From the cover of Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle" to the title track's wry drive, the album is put together well. These tunes are all pretty fair and comforting, and there is no ground more solid for an album to build upon. ~ James Chrispell minimize
