Lone Wolf and Cub (English)

LONE WOLF AND CUB: THE ASSASSIN'S ROAD is volume one of the collected manga, first serialized in 1970, that inspired a television series and six movies. Set in the late 17th century, in what is known as the Edo Period, the manga recounts the various adventures of Itto Ogami, a ronin (masterless samurai) and supremely skilled assassin with an unknown past. His most prominent quirk is that he not only travels with his toddler-age son, he uses the child in his assassinations. This behavior has led others to refer to Ogami and his son as "Lone Wolf and Cub." The black-and-white illustrations are more realistic than more contemporary manga, which tends to exaggerate or minimize facial features. This edition is printed European-style--in that the art and the text run from left to right, rather than the original Japanese right-to-left--and contains a glossary of various terms used in the text. minimize
