Rhino's 16-track collection All-Time Original Hits provides a useful service by compiling the Everly Brothers' greatest hits from both Cadence and Warner onto one disc. This, of course, means that many great songs are missing, particularly from the Cadence era, since only the A-sides of Top Ten singles were chosen for inclusion (which means such classics as "I Wonder if I Care as Much," "This Little Girl of Mine," "Claudette," "Poor Jenny," and "Like Strangers" are absent). Still, it's nice to have "Bye Bye Love," "Wake Up Little Susie," "Bird Dog," "('Til) I Kissed You," "When Will I Be Loved," "Cathy's Clown," "Ebony Eyes," "Walk Right Back," and "Crying in the Rain" on one disc, which may make it preferable to Cadence Classics and Walk Right Back: The Everly Brothers on Warner Bros. for some casual fans. One caveat: the mixes on All-Time Original Hits sound wrong, with the voices pushed too far up in the mix and the instruments a little bit muted. At times, these mixes are disarming enough to distract from the actual music, at least to listeners well-acquainted with other mixes that are closer to the originals. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine minimize Track ListingAlbum Information
