Those pesky Kidz Bop Kids (the ones who started reinterpreting pop songs with questionable lyrics in 2001) return with Kidz Bop Christmas, a collection of yuletide favorites (original lyrics intact) that do little but wedge themselves comfortably within a genre that is about as progressive as a dinner plate full of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. ~ James Christopher Monger
No one is safe from those crazy Kidz Bop Kids. This time out, these precocious tykes take a crack at an entire program's worth of Christmas classics. So gather the little ones around, hit play and let merriment ensue. There's plenty of sing-a-long material starting right off the bat with the Rankin-Bass trifecta of "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Frosty The Snowman." From here, you can keep the chorales going with a one two punch of "Jingle Bells" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." Those older folks who remember celebrating Xmas when pompadours and Elvis were the rule can teach the young'uns '50s era nuggets "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bell Rock," "Run Rudolph Run" and "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth." Then everyone can tip their collective hats to the cute Beatle before tucking into Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime." Who says there isn't anything left for families to do together?
