It draws most heavily from what is now viewed as the band's peak period: its first three albums (the self-titled debut, SHINE ON BRIGHTLY, and A SALTY DOG). "A Whiter Shade of Pale" announced the band's arrival in no uncertain terms. Procol Harum reveled in a unique amalgam of influences, presenting classical flourishes mixed with an R&B grounding. The band continued to flourish even after the departure of founding member and organist Matthew Fisher (who adds key character to such songs as "Homburg" and the title tracks of SHINE ON BRIGHTLY and A SALTY DOG). "Whiskey Train" and "Simple Sister" are blues-rock pieces built upon Robin Trower's guitar. Like all of Procol Harum's best work, the tracks retain a somber mystery and powerful allure. minimize Track ListingAlbum Information
