Strengths:Unique console color (shiny crimson top, matte black bottom), comes with a case and Brain Age 2 game, DS has strong platform support
Weaknesses:Mediocre case, Brain Age 2 isn't for everyone, more expensive than if you just wanted the new console color, hard to open package, bottom touch screen has a yellowish hue
Posted Sep 16, 2007 - It's been over a year since the Nintendo DS Lite was originally released, so there really isn't much new to say about the platform, in general. Innovative touch screen and plenty of games (single and multi player) covering virtually every genre.
Console: I love the new colors. The crimson top is vibrant and shiny, and the matte black doesn't show finger prints as well as the Onyx color. Unfortunately, my bottom screen on the inside has a yellowish tint to it that would annoy most people. I can handle it since it only really shows when the screen is all white (such as the loading screen). For screen protection, I would get the official HORI ones.
Case: Although the case was designed to play in it, it really isn't that good for that purpose. The elastic straps cover the stylus slot and the case becomes obtrusive while holding the console. Also, when the case is sealed with the button strap, it isn't flush with the rest of case. I'll mainly be using the case as storage while I'm not using it. The Joytech Armorlite would be a better choice for protecting your DS while you're playing it.
Game: If you liked Brain Age 1, you'll like this one as well. (And If you didn't like the first one, this one won't change your mind.) It's more problem solving mini-games designed to exercise your aging brain. There is also a hidden Dr. Mario-like minigame for those looking for their fix on the DS.
Overall: If you were going to buy a DS and BA2, get the bundle. It's a great gift for $150. If you just wanted the new console color, hold off and get it for $130. Many game sites are reporting that the crimson/black DS will be released sans-bundle in October 2007.

Strengths:nice bundle for new users (includes brain age 2 and a neat vinyl case); limited edition crimson red/black color; same strengths as any DS lite
Weaknesses:none really, but i think that nintendo should really include a set of screen protectors particularly for the touchscreen.
Posted Aug 30, 2007 - this bundle is a great way to get started. this is my first handheld game system since the original Gameboy i had from over 10 years ago. there really is no price savings as the bundle is $150, and a DS lite plus brain age 2 is $150 (130 + 20). what you do get is a rather nice vinyl carry case and of course a special/limited edition color. you'll be the envy of many DS lite owners as the color is pretty slick. only the top case is the crimson color, everything else is black. i would have hoped that more of it was crimson/red (eg. the buttons), but it's still very nice looking. also the bottom of the case is made of a matte black plastic so it's not slippery like other DS lites. though its graphics may be inferior to what can be found on the Sony PSP, the DS game library is huge (not to mention you can also play old GBA games) and it has many unique and interesting games rather than the mostly bland ports of console games that the PSP gets. remember touching is good; get your hands on one of these fast before it sells out (that is if it indeed is a limited edition run)!

Strengths:Fun, affordable, backwards compatible w/ GameBoy, WiFi. Different exterior color (Red).
Posted Aug 23, 2007 - A fun, affordable gaming system. I enjoy the Brain Age, Brain Boost, and Big Brain, series. If you register your DS Lite on-line, you'll get an additional 3 months warranty for a total of 15 months.

Strengths:Case, new color scheme.
Weaknesses:Case better for girls.
Posted Sep 12, 2007 - I still like my old DS phat, but this is great for my girlfriend. The case and colors are unisex, but they work a little better for the ladies.
While my girlfriend didn't pick up my old DS that much, she loves the DS Lite with its cover on. We're able to play on Wifi just fine and she can use all of my games.

Strengths:limited edition. great starter package.
Weaknesses:brain age 2 is not as good as the previous version. good deal though
Posted Sep 5, 2007 - $149.99 is not a bad price for a limited edition DS lite, a bonus pack and a OK game. The standalone game would cost around $20. However, the quantity is not that limited as the previous Mario kart bundle or final fantasy bundle. Well, after two weeks, I still see tons of them in stock in my local bestbuy. The exterior color is gorgeous. But the black part is matte and I don't quite like that design though, comparing with the smooth touch for pink and white DS lite version

Strengths:Has a great color combination with the crimson and black, very easy to use at all ages.
Weaknesses:The case it comes with isn't anything to write home about.
Posted Jan 4, 2008 - The Nintendo DS lite crimson/black is a fantastic portable gaming system. The battery life, at least as the unit is new, seems to be great allowing for continuous gameplay. As stated above the case isn't so great though. The system tends to slide around inside the case since it isn't a real tight fit. It does help keep scratches off but that's about it. The brain age 2 game is pretty good, but not quite as entertaining as other titles on the DS. Still in all it's a great bundle for the price of $149 because you're getting a good starter game and a scratch protective case for $20 more than just the system alone. If Nintendo would have bundled this system and game with a better case I would have given it 5 stars.

Strengths:Includes free case, new color
Posted Dec 5, 2007 - This bundle gives the DS in a new color, a game and a case. The case is a bonus for the cost of the DS and game. The new color is nice. The case is nice and the DS can be played when in the case itself. The bundled game Brain Age 2 is also good.

Who let the drunk art guy ok this in the marketing department?
Strengths:Reminds you why doing two colors NEVER works; internals still the same
Weaknesses:Inconsistent SCREEN build quality; case recycled from 4th world rubber scraps; stop hurting the American public - bring the nice ICE blues, the nice Dark blues, the silvers
Posted Oct 26, 2007 - We all know the colors red and black. In fact, the DS has a gorgeous glossy black in its portfolio. Obviously, someone OK this garish color because the focus group was limited to dogs, cats, and other ravenous predators in the African Sahara.
Two tone colors never work on ANY system. The incentive to toss in the crappiest case on the planet earth probably made this marketing idea either a marriage of convenience (overstocked gamecube accessories) or the offspring of statisticians (people like black + people like red = product). Unfortunately, the IDEA itself is bereft of the simplest case studies of past Nintendo two tone Gameboy systems. Thankfully, the color doesn't harm performance and most importantly, doesn't make it compatible with the great DS game library.
Smattering reports about the inconsistent screen qualities doesn't add to its already less than sterling start. I would adamantly suggest you open the DS to make sure the screen is as bright as the polar white and black DS lites on sale.
When Nintendo of Japan has VERY GORGEOUS colors, the American Nintendo fans gets treated like garbage with this creation. Bundling brain age 2 helps but the funny thing is, it DOESNT save you money if bought separately. The case was suppose to be the incentive for that tiebreaker but when the DS is so elegant and the case just came from the Jurassic era, all pretense of buying this DS just disappears. Avoid buying crap like this so that Nintendo of America can abort half baked products like this.

Strengths:This DS is much better than the original. The screen is an improvement on the other as it is much brighter and easier to see the images.
Weaknesses:Touch pen is little dull, comparing to original DS.
Posted Oct 5, 2007 - I really like colour and design of Crimson Model. It is good deal with nice case and Brain Age2 bundled. DS software is amazing and it is not limited games, but you always find something new.

DS Lite Game System w/ Brain Age 2
Strengths:Package comes with bous leather carrying case and a game to play with, Brain Age 2
Weaknesses:Comes only crimson/black two tone color with no other color choice. Leather case looks nice but not practical for carrying functionality.
Posted Sep 29, 2007 - Unless you want to only but Brain Age 2 and a Nintendo DS, it is better to buy them all separately at discount/sale prices. This package is good for those only wanted these products or games like Brain Academy and Brain Age. Other than that you are better off buying your own carrying case for you Nintendo DS if you want to buy this product because of the extra bonus and the game.

Strengths:Construction,battery life,value,looks
Posted Sep 20, 2007 - Well let me start by saying that this was a gift for my Doughter(she is six)but I wanted to take it for a spin and give feedback here. As you may know this is a Bundle and comes with Brain Age 2. First I want to talk about the DS system it self. What Impresed me the most when I opened it was the construction of this device and second the shiny Finish(red). Is pretty cool to play games with the Stylus(pen) and/or with out it. This bundle comes packed with Brain Age 2 game and I like it a lot,my wife is hooked with the mini games of Brain Age 2 and I think she is been playing it everyday since the day it arrived at our home.
I think Brain Age 2 is more oriented towards adults than kids, the mini games on it are pretty much about Math. My favorite mini game is one I call "piano" in wich you play the keys of a piano using the stylus and you try to follow a song playing on the background.
Overall if you have a kid that likes to play videgames(who doesnt?) this is a really good product for that kid.You might want to buy him/her a game more suitable for his/hers age/skills.

Strengths:Awesome system with a really fun game!
Weaknesses:The case needs a better design.
Posted Sep 11, 2007 - I like the uniqueness of the DS lite. It has a really nice crimson color and the game that comes with it is awesome!
Although the leather case is great, the design of it is flawed. The volume adjuster is blocked by the elastic that holds down the left bottom of the DS. But it looks really great. :)

Posted Sep 8, 2007 - Excellent game for the whole family! Very challenging and makes you think and focus. We felt the ease of use and all it's abilities make it an excellent buy. It's amazing how you can talk to it and write on it and it understands them both. We purchased a bundled package, so it can with the AC adapter, case and the car adapter. Loved it all!
